I love to help people grow their content, grow their visibility and expand their creativity out into the world. Now, today's episode,
we're staying in this theme of monetization, because a lot of people are sort of perplexed especially on Instagram, how do you set up your monetization on? You know, how do you get their wheels bonus? How do you get the badges if you go live on Instagram, they're all creating, of course Tik Tok. When I say all Tiktok and Instagram have both created their own marketplaces for creators. Now in order to qualify for those things, there are requirements with Instagram, for instance, you have to have a creator account. And in order to double check that you have a creator account, you're going to want to go into your settings, you're going to want to go into account and an account you're going to see if you already have a creator account Creator as an option in your menu. But you can also scroll all the way to the bottom. And you'll see an option for it's usually in blue. And it will say create turn your profile into professional account or a personal account, be a professional if you're going to do this as a professional, there's no risk in going ahead and becoming a creator account. A lot of people wonder, Should I be a business account, the only times it really matters to be a business account is if you're selling products, and you want people to be able to click and purchase through the Instagram app. But if you are somebody who wants to just make content and start making money from it, if you're making reels all the time, get off, just just get on to the Creator account. There's a lot of benefits to both of these things. Regardless, if you do business or creator, the biggest thing is to have insights on your content. You want to be able to go in and see how things are performing usually get two years worth of insights based on your content. So if you've been making reels consistently for a long amount of time, you can always go in and say okay, what's performed well, what can I repost? What can I share, recreate? What is my audience really like? How is my audience changed, you can always get that information and your insights. So I find that to be probably one of the biggest benefits of both and of course now as a creator on Instagram, you can start to make money I make almost about $1,000 Every month in just reals bonuses between my accounts. So that is something that for me is a huge help right now. You know, we went from I went from being a full time actor on Broadway to being a He's a full time coach and I have this sort of freelance life, the income streams are not always steady. So that's why it's super important to have multiple of them. So that we can build, you know, build it up, if you will. So starts with getting a creator account, right? Once you have a creator account, you can then set up monetization, which basically means you can link your bank account to your Instagram. And you can do that either through PayPal, you can do that through your own bank, you're going to, they're going to want to ask for all your legal stuff for tax purposes. So you know, you if you run a business, and you have an F EIN number, you're gonna want to have that available or your social security number. It's all legit. It's all secure, I promise. But once you have that setup, you're now eligible for monetization. And that means anything that Instagram is currently offering to pay creators you could be eligible for, there are certain criteria that fluctuate and change on what those things could be. But the probably the easiest thing to start with our badges, which is when you go live, if you ever follow Bravo, husbands, we go live every Sunday, and we talk about our lives, and being dads and all this stuff. But we also invite people, Hey, if you're getting a lot of value out of this, if you'd like spending time with us, help support us by purchasing a badge. And these small little purchases of badges can help tip the Creator. And over time, if you're going live consistently, and people are tipping you, you can actually make a little bit of money in that direction. And then of course, the reels play bonus, which most people want, but you can't really get you have to have at least 1000 followers, okay, and you need to be posting reels consistently, and then they will invite you. Now I did just do a three and a half week, four week, reals bootcamp, which I'm going to do again at the beginning of the year, so you're not too late. If you want to join, come join the waitlist. And I did have a couple of people who joined the bootcamp and within the one month, they were able to pay for the entire bootcamp with just making meals every day. So you know, it's not gonna pay your rent, but it's gonna give you just enough money to encourage you to keep going. And the bonus programme changes all the time. So it's something to look at the change the criteria, depending on engagement and all of those things, but it's definitely worth setting up that monetization. Now a question I get from a lot of people as well, if I'm using licenced material, can I still set up for monetization, you can, okay, you can set up for monetization as a creator. Even if you're repurposing audios and things like that. It's just that those specific pieces of content that are copyrighted material, you may or may not be able to receive money on the bonus, okay, so
you're not gonna get Dean, you're not gonna get arrested, you're not going to get in trouble. But those posts may, they may take away monetization. And that's because the money that would go to you is actually going to the artists and the creator, which we all want to support. So don't worry too hard about when am I going to get the reels bonus, when am I going to get these things? There's also Oh, it's going to talk about tick tock so also on tick tock, they probably have made it a little bit easier to get connected with brands as far as making content. But I have learned that with tick tock, it's a lot quite often brands I don't want to represent, it's like I don't use this product, I'm not going to create a piece of content around the product I don't currently use or I'm not interested in using, because that would be false and fake and a lie. And I would just be doing it for the money. And that's not something that interests me now that might interest you. And no, you know, no judgement here. But just know that like tick tock that is one way to create monetization, I will do another episode where I can talk about how to create other streams of income. But right now this is just about setting up monetization, you want to register as a creator on whatever account that you're on. Now on YouTube, they change the criteria here, where now you have to have at least 1000 subscribers on YouTube. But the hard part, this is really tricky for us and probably husbands is you have to have over 4000 public watch hours meaning there has to be over 4000 hours of people who you know that people have consumed your public content, but it cannot be their short form content the shorts which sucks because we have some really high performing shorts but we they don't count towards our monetization so we're still not receiving AdSense revenue from our YouTube channel even though we have 2300 subscribers now. So if you're not creating a new YouTube if you want to create on YouTube, start creating now because you need to build up those public watch hours in order to start monetizing. It's, again super easy on Instagram to start making a little bit of money in your content creation and a little bit easier on Tik Tok as well. YouTube's a little bit more challenging. If you have more questions about these kinds of things, come visit me on Instagram at Bret Shuford. I'd love to hear from you in the DMS. Let me know and share this podcast with a friend if you find that this can help them because I want to see as many of us out there in the world being creative being visible. I will see you next week.
