Hey, what's up? Welcome back. This is a visibility Thursday episode and we're going to talk a little bit today about your bio about first impressions. Now, I've talked about this on Tuesday, I want to make sure before we even dive in, if you're looking for some help with your productivity, and you're looking for a better system for creating content, I want you to check out my friend Thomas Frank's creators companion. It's an awesome tool that I've been integrating into my own creative systems I've been able to share with my team and it's helping you really keep projects and stuff organised as they move along their path, I use it for Bobby husbands, I use it for my podcast, I use it for everything. So check out the link in the description below to check out the creators companion. It uses notion as a productivity tool. And if you've not checked out notion and started to integrate that into your own business, it's the wave of the future, I promise to check it out. And that is called Creative companion. And it's in the show notes. Now, one of the things that I think most people don't value enough is this idea of first impressions, especially online, especially with social media and marketing, your bio, meaning if you don't want to bio is your biography. The thing that tells me a little bit about you is your first impressions. If I see your wheels, or I see your piece of content, and I click to go learn more about you, the first thing I'm going to see is on your platform or on your page, whatever your bio is, now you have limited space, depending on the social media platform you're using to get a really strong bio in place. I do dive deeper into creating a more robust bio if you want to do speaking engagements, or if you're getting things you know, and you want to create a media kit, all that stuff within the creative visibility programme, I would love to have you if you're interested in learning more about that. You can apply at Bret shuford.com, forward slash apply. And we can work together on making that happen. But I want you to right now, fresh eyes, new lenses. If you're driving, don't do this, but take a minute to just open up your Instagram bio, your tick tock bio, go to your first page and tell me what your first impressions are. Does this person a look like a legitimate account? Like does the profile photo look great? Can I see their face? Do I understand their sort of colour brand and friendliness? And like is it do I feel invited to participate in this person's world? So I'm gonna give you a super simple way to write out your bio. And as you're sort of looking at your current bio, and want you to ask yourself, does it tell me who I am? Tell me what I do. If I don't know you, and does it give me the experience, right? I'm all about all we have to do is create an experience. So if you're fun if you're playful is your bio fun and playful. Some of the ways you can make it fun and playful. What are the words you're using? Remember that your your bio is keyword optimised. So if you want people to know you as something, make sure those keywords are in there. If you're a coach, if you're a creator, if you're an artist, if you're an actor, are those words even in there, right. So what I like to do is just to make it super fun. Number one, you can not your handle, right our handle in my perfect world, your handle should always be your name unless you're a business that is an outside business of yourself if your personal brand, if you're creative. I think it should have your name in there in some way. Some people that like I think do this really well. If you want to go outside of just using your name is like colour me, Courtney. It's one of my favourite creators, she uses her first name, but her whole thing is about colour and fashion and style. You can play with that. But what you have to remember is that people are going to be looking for you if they meet you in person if they consume your content. And if your name is some weird, complicated work from home, mom, 7692 I'm not going to find you. Right. So we want to make sure that our handle is as close to our name or incorporates our name in some way, especially if we're a personal brand and a creator then we can actually change our profile name to something that is keyword searchable. If you'll notice mine right now says creative entrepreneur I'm experimenting with different things to see if I draw more people in right now this seems to be drawing in the kind of people I really want to work with. But I've had actor coach, I've had all different kinds of things in there just to experiment and see, you can only change it every 30 days. So experiment. Try making that optimise so that people can find you. It doesn't have to match your handle. And then in your bio, try to have a really brief Who are you like who do you serve is the first thing you want to sort of answer what it is you
do that helps them and anything else you want people to know one of my favourite times that my bio for a long time was literally just coffee Is knee coaching and inspiration because those are the things you'll always see in my content. And it helps people go, what am I going to be seeing if I follow this guy and continue to consume his content, and then you want to make sure your bio is optimised to drive people to a website. So what is you're not going to put it in your actual bio, you're going to put it in the website link. But something you might want to consider is creating a Lincoln bio page on your website, which is what I just did on Kajabi. Or using something like Link tree, if you have multiple links that you want people to check out. If you can optimise your bio, I promise you, as you're continuing to create content, you're going to start to see more people coming over and following you. But I gotta know, like, if I lean in, if I see more if I see your content, and I lean in and find out oh, I want to know more about this person, and then I go to your bio, am I going to clearly know who you are, what you do, and how you can help me make it clear, make it fun, go check out some of the people who you love and see what they do. What are the what is the content and the bios that they're using to help optimise their accounts. Don't be afraid to copy and paste and make it your own. Because there's clearly success in those areas if there are people who are growing at the rate and at the speed at the level that you want to grow. So experiment with optimising that bio. And then you want to go in and make sure what if let's say I go to your website, and I go to your bio on your website? Is that up to date? Is that current? Because we all evolve? Right? We're creators, we're just constantly evolving, make sure that bio tells me not necessarily where you've been. Right? I think that's a big problem I see a lot of creators do is they focus so much on the journey that they've been on up until now, which is important to tell that story. But you also want to make sure you're telling people where you're going, what the vision is, Where am I headed, right? Think of it, you know, your vision is the castle of your theme park of your Disneyland. So if you're not clear on that vision, and you're not telling people that vision, it's like going into Disneyland without a castle, it just wouldn't be the same. So we want people to be headed towards that vision with you, or at least decide whether or not they want to participate in creating that vision and making it a reality. It's a you need to know what that vision is. And hopefully this will help you clarify that. It's an evolution. You don't have to get it perfect. You don't, it's not going to stay the same. You're going to change, you're going to evolve, you're going to be inspired by new things. So try something now and then commit to that for an extended amount of time. And see what happens. If you start seeing oh, these aren't the kind of people I want to bring in. You can change it. It can evolve, but it can't evolve if you don't start somewhere and start taking action today. So that's your task this week. Go check out your bio. Try experimenting, updating it seeing if it really represents the experience you want to create and then tag me share it take a screenshot tag me share it in your Instagram Stories. I'd love to see what you come up with. All right, I'll talk to you next week. Have an awesome creativity visibility, creative visibility week
