What's up? Welcome back to the creative visibility podcast. This is a visibility Thursday episode and we're going to talk a little bit about a new update that came out. I don't know if you've noticed this recently, but Instagram has been having weekly announcements about their updates. They've updated all kinds of things, from tools to safety, security for children, all kinds of things. But this week, one of the things that really stood out to me is that they've announced something called the creators marketplace. Now, this is a great opportunity for those of us who are maybe just starting out who want to start monetizing it is this means that Instagram is actually encouraging people to become paid creators. So what is a creative marketplace, it's a place where brands can discover top tick tock or Instagram talent, and they're expanding the functionality towards the what they keep calling the Creator economy. So first, it's totally free, right? All you have to do is enrol at you have to be a creator account on Instagram, and then you have to open up for monetization and enrol as a creator through the Creator marketplace. What then will happen is brands will start to pitch to you, I've had this happen on Tik Tok, I, of course, have found the money's not always as good as it is if I pitch myself personally to the brands that I want to work with. But if you're somebody who's just starting out, and you want to test the waters, Instagram and Tiktok are making this very, very easy. So what you're going to do is go into the show notes here, I've got a link from laters. Blogs later is a great scheduling software.
I don't schedule my posts, I do everything organic, but I do like their blog, because it's filled with great resources. And this blog really talks about how brands discover you how they message you through there, you can negotiate the project and the payments. And what you want to know if you've never been a content creator for brands is they're going to basically negotiate with you the deliverables is what they call them. So deliverables would be something like a tic tock video. And sometimes they'll say they want it to be a certain length, 25 seconds to 45 seconds, right or a minute, you want to really look at those deliverables, because that's really where you can start to add on to how much they pay you. Okay, so if they're asking for reals, for instance, for probably husbands that they asked for reals, and they want three Instagram stories and three images as well, that's going to be a more expensive package, right. So what I typically do, and as you'll start to discover through this crater marketplace, is they're going to give you like a flat rate. And you can negotiate, you can say, you know, I really love your brand, I love your product, I love to work with you. But my typical rate for a story is $400. Let's say if you want three frames, that's going to be you know, $1,200 Unless you blah, blah, blah, and and what will happen to is, if you're new and you don't have a tonne of followers is you're gonna get a lot of gifted campaigns, you know, it'd be like in exchange for this, we want that. So I want you to pay attention to the deliverables, if you're going to start to do this. Because if they're going to give you a free, let's say free product in exchange for a post, you don't want to spend more than the allotted time that that product is worth per hour making the content. And that's really where I see a lot of people get burnt out is they're making beautiful content, but they're not getting paid. They're getting these gifts, and they're like, but I spent hours on this content, I want it to be good. I want to build a portfolio. But remember, you can build a portfolio even with gifted content at a minimum of the amount of effort, right? So say I like at this point, that bro husband, you have almost 100,000 followers. So now when it's gifted, I would say we only do paid in feed posts. So if you want to reel or something in feed, it would need to be paid, we are happy to try the product and maybe share it in our stories. And we might even then say that would be a certain price. That's where you want to get to write. And if you're not there yet, that's okay. This creator marketplace is going to be a great way to start. So check out the link down below. If you're not if you're on Tik Tok, and you're not enrolled in creator marketplace, if you're not if you're on Instagram, and of course, Instagram tends to roll things out. So you may not have access to this yet. Stay tuned, it will come your way, especially if you're registered as a creator and you're making content. So I want you to start to think, Okay, who are the brands I love? Are they available even you could go looking and searching. But this is going to change the game for so many of us who are out there making content. Now, if you don't get an offer for this or it's not available to you yet, there's some other things you can do that I see a lot of people missing out on okay. And that is you can start making content with products you already use. In order to get the attention of those brands. You're going to want to tag those brands in your content. It seems so easy. It seems so simple, but I see so many people missing out on opportunities right now. I take a gorgeous photo of Steven and I wearing some clothes that we love, or at a location that is got its own Instagram. And it's very well managed. So let's say a hotel, right, I want to tag that hotel in the image. Because what that does is think about this, every single brand person person out there right now needs content, they are searching for content as they have to deliver in order to get the engagement up every day. So if you're making beautiful content, or valuable content that can serve a brand, a person or even what I loved to do, and probably husbands was growing, is find these, what they call their feature accounts, right, where they're featuring gay couples, for instance, would probably husbands, and I would tag those feature accounts because they want to feature gay couples. And if we had an image that worked for them, they would then share that image. And guess what that does, sharing that image and tagging us in it gets us in front of their audience, which gets people following us, right. That's how you grow. So if you really, really, really know that content creation, and getting monetized and having brands sponsor you is where you want to go start thinking about just like literally in your office, in your house, what are the things you're currently using, that you love, tell your audience about them, tell your audience about that brand, tag the brand in those images,
the brands will start to notice you, right. And also, what that does, is it starts to teach your audience, oh, they're going to recommend products to me. And they're going to tell me they liked certain things. And we want to teach your audience to click to purchase to get more information. Because when you do start to get sponsored, when you do start to get brands coming to you wanting to work with you, they're going to look at those analytics, how many clicks, like if you put in a link in that stories, they're gonna want to look at the insights and see is your audience engaging. So you can start to do that now by telling your audience Hey, engage in my content, look at this product. I love this thing, right? So much easier than trying to get something you've never used before, and sell it. So I want to encourage you now, if you really want to grow your following, no matter what it is you're selling, and you want to get yourself in front of new audiences, start to think about the things the everyday things that you're using, can you make valuable, beautiful content, that you can tag those brands, those companies, those people's the fan feature accounts and get the attention of them so that they might reshare repost your content and get you in front of their audience, I tell you, that is the fastest and most organic way to grow. And to be honest, it's the most genuine way to grow as well, because you're already there. Right? And that's really what this is about. How do we align who you are as a person with who you are online. It's by sharing with your audience, the things you're doing the things you use the things you love, right. I hope you found this helpful. Again, check out the show notes for a little bit more about the Instagram creator marketplace, and I'll talk to you next week.
