Before we dive in, let me give you a brief background about myself. Broadway has always been my passion, and I'm grateful to have pursued and achieved success in this industry. Not only that, but I've also met my husband along the way, and we are now expecting a child. So, I’m living proof that your dreams can come true.

Drawing from my experience of achieving success on Broadway, my mission is to help creatives who want to monetize their passion and utilize social media and digital marketing to do so.

The Power of Planning

Now, let's address the importance of having a plan. Personally, I've been sober for 17 years, and this journey has taught me valuable lessons about planning and preparation. Before finding sobriety, I lived impulsively, without a clear plan, trusting that everything would work out somehow. While I had moments of success, I realized there was a simpler way to navigate my path—one that I had been ignoring.

Addiction took various forms in my life, including substance abuse and codependency. These obstacles hindered my ability to create a solid plan and pursue my dreams confidently. It's crucial to acknowledge that addiction can manifest differently for each person. Understanding this allowed me to see that sobriety offered not only freedom from addiction but also clarity in planning my future.

Learning from Success

One valuable lesson I learned is that success leaves clues. When you have a vision or goal, look to those who have already achieved what you aspire to. Study their paths, observe the actions they took, and learn from their experiences. Don't limit yourself to a single person—explore the journeys of multiple individuals who inspire you. By examining where success already exists, you gain insight and inspiration relevant to your own creative endeavors.

Surrounding Yourself with the Right Influences

The concept of learning from those one step ahead is not limited to addiction recovery. It applies to creative individuals as well. Seek out communities and individuals who have already achieved success in your desired field. Surrounding yourself with accomplished professionals can uplift and motivate you to reach higher levels. While it may feel intimidating at first, this courageous step will transform your journey, aligning you with those who inspire you and understand your goals.

Think about the five people you spend the most time with. Are they performing at a high level in their respective fields? Evaluating the influences in your life is crucial to your growth. It doesn't mean you have to sever ties with friends, but you must be willing to redirect your time and energy toward people who can help you achieve your goals. Your true friends will support and love you regardless, and you may even discover who your genuine supporters are in the process.

Embracing Imperfection and Taking Action

Another important aspect of creating a plan for your creative career is to avoid getting trapped in the need for a perfect plan. Understand that every individual's path is unique. Often, we find ourselves preparing endlessly, seeking the right tools or waiting for the ideal moment to begin. In truth, it is when you start, even if it feels messy and unstructured, that you gain the knowledge and experience necessary to refine your plan.

In the ever-evolving creative industry, having a plan is crucial for success. By embracing the power of planning, learning from those who inspire us, surrounding ourselves with the right influences, and embracing imperfections along the way, we can navigate our creative careers with confidence. Remember, your journey is unique, and it's never too late to start. Embrace the process, take action, and watch your dreams come to life.
